Drug Court Supported Accommodation
What is Drug Court Supported Accommodation? The Beenleigh Drug Court refers people with Intensive Drug Rehabilitation Orders (IDROs) to the YFS Supported
Accommodation program. This program assists Drug Court participants as an alternative to a custodial sentence in both Drug Court housing and the community, and as a transitional service to participants in residential rehabilitation centres. Clients are assisted to access specialist counselling services (including for relationships,finances and gambling);
domestic violence, parenting and emotional development programs; and work and education programs. Clients are assisted when talking with Government departments such as Housing, Transport and Child Safety,
with the aim of helping them back into the community and back with families. YFS Drug Court Supported Accommodation works with clients to help them meet the requirements of their Intensive Drug Rehabilitation Order and get into stable jobs and housing.YFS Drug Court Supported Accommodation works closely with the Departments of Communities, Housing, Health, Corrections, Justice and the Queensland Police Service. Drug Court clients receive regular drug and alcohol testing; Drug Court reviews; Corrective Services, Health
and Supported Accommodation case management, Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs (ATODS) counselling; and community service amongst other activities. Who can access the service? Only clients who live within an approved postcode and have pleaded guilty to a certain offence under the DrugRehabilitation (Court Diversion) Act (Qld) 2000 will get an Intensive Drug Rehabilitation Order (IDRO). Drug Court does not accept people who have committed violent crimes, who face a prison sentence greater than four years, or who have committed a disqualifying offence under the Act. Once granted an IDRO, particpants must live in an approved postcode area during their order. Can I access the service myself? No. The Corrective Services Drug Court Program Team members are the case managers
for Drug Court Program clients. All referrals to Supported Accommodation are first
made through Corrective Services and assessed with the Drug Court team.
