Drugs And The Law

Laws about dangerous drugs can apply to all drugs except for tobacco, caffeine and medications prescribed to you by a doctor.

It is illegal to be in possession of a dangerous drug. Possession includes having the drug on you, in your room or in your car. It is also illegal to sell or give a dangerous drug to someone else. For example, if you are caught giving some pot to your friends, you could be charged with supplying a dangerous drug.

It is an offence to be in possession of a thing if it is for using drugs, or if you use it in connection with drugs. For example, it is illegal to have a bong, pipe or scales for using drugs. It is LEGAL to be in possession of properly stored needles or syringes. However, it is against the law not to dispose of a needle correctly.

Note – it’s not actually an offence to be out of it or DRUG affected,   BUT it is to be in ‘possession’ of the drug.
