Hooning

Some offences related to driving are called ‘hooning’ offences. Hooning offences include:
·         dangerous or careless driving;
·         illegal street racing; and
·         any offence where your vehicle makes lots of noise or smoke.

Special consequences for traffic and hooning offences

In Queensland, if you are charged with hooning, traffic or motorbike noise offences, there is a risk that your vehicle could be impounded (locked away) by Police for 48 hours, three months, or even taken away permanently.

If your vehicle is impounded, you or your parents may have to pay for the cost of storing it, as well as a fee to get it back.

These special consequences apply on top of any punishment a Court gives you for committing the offence.
