About Counselling

While Family and Relationships involves a variety of services including training, community
and personal development, one of the main ways we help people is through counselling.

Going to counselling can be a big step for a lot of people. The main reason people come to
counselling is because they want something to be different in their life. Counselling can provide
you with a safe place to talk about things that aren't going as well as you might have hoped.

People tell us about a whole range of reactions when taking this step, like:

  • fear
  • worries that it won't work
  • thinking it might make things worse
  • being worried what others will think, or
  • that there might be something wrong with you.

It can be an opportunity to explore and better understand why things aren't working so well.
It can also be a safe place to try new ways of thinking about and doing things.

All counselling programs are free (although donations will be gratefully accepted) and staffed
by
experienced, tertiary trained professionals.

Intake

If you would like to access any of our services or would like to have a chat with someone about which
service might be best for you, please call our Rowan Street Intake Worker on 3826 1500, who will
discuss with you the many options that are available. If we cannot provide you with a service, we will
refer you to another agency in the community that meets your needs.
