Young Dads program What is the Young Dads program? There was a time when being a father meant going to work and providing for your family, spending
some time with the children at the weekends and disciplining the children. Times have changed and
there are now more expectations than ever on fathers to be actively involved in the care of their children.
Fathers themselves generally expect to be more involved in all aspects of their child's lives.
With the increased involvement in the care of their children, there is now a greater need than ever
before to provide these dads with programs which recognise and promote their importance in their
child's development and wellbeing.
YFS can provide support for young dads by preparing them for fatherhood, encouraging positive
relationships with their children, strengthening their parenting skills and working with them to positively
address relationship issues.
Who can access the service? Young Dads or fathers-to-be up to 25 years of age who have children 0 - 5 years of age. How do I access the service? Contact our Rowan Street Intake Worker on 3826 1500 or email us.
