YFS' commitment to Logan and surrounds

#R4Respect

Thirteen #R4Respect Ambassadors have received $2000 scholarships to participate in youth-led strategies influencing other young people to develop respectful relationships and to undertake professional development and training in media, social media and respectful relationships formation.

To date, scholarships have been funded by: YFS Ltd, Queensland Presentation Sisters, Infoxchange, Griffith University – Logan Campus, Griffith University School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, QUT Business School, NAB, The Fox, Old Mac Toyota, Logan City Council Mayors Community Benefit Fund and Paxton-Hall Lawyers.

YFS' Financial and in-kind contributions for Logan

  • Logan Together Initiative – $20,000 contribution
  • Logan District Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Elders
    • Shop front office space at 372 Kingston Road Slacks Creek
    • Sponsorship – Songs of Peace and Healing our Way, Women’s workshops
  • Refugee Association of Logan
    • Payment of storage shed and usage of YFS vehicles on the week-ends
  • St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School – transport for families to the multicultural festival
  • Logan House Fire Network Donation
  • ACCESS – donation for the Syrian refugees
  • Griffith University (Logan campus) 4 x $2,000 scholarships for Logan students
  • Sponsorship of the African Australian Awards Queensland 2015.

Partner subcontract agreements

  • Beaucare Inc – a full time equivalent position in the YFS Intensive Family Support Program for Browns Plains/ Beaudesert
  • WAVSS – to deliver direct services and safety checks with women who have partners participating in the YFS Responsible Men program
  • TransitCare – to deliver transport services to YFS Community Connections (disability).

Co-location partnership agreements

YFS delivers off-site services through colocation partnerships with the following:

  • YFS Legal provides services to the Logan Family Relationships Centre as part of a Memorandum of Understanding with South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre and Women’s Legal Service
  • YFS Legal provides off site legal advice sessions at the Beenleigh Neighbourhood Centre
  • YFS Money Management Program has a Memorandum with the Department of Human Services to provide financial management support in three Centrelink offices (Browns Plains, Woodridge, Beenleigh).

  • Mater Health – YFS sub contracted to provide alcohol and drug services to young people 12 – 25 years in the Logan and Redlands regions
