Emerging needs for community services in the Jimboomba-Beaudesert area have prompted leading Logan organisation YFS to open a new service hub in Jimboomba, to be officially opened by Member for Logan Linus Power MP on Monday 27 August 2018.

YFS Chief Executive Officer Cath Bartolo said the official opening represented an exciting new chapter in the organisation’s proud 35-year history of service to people in the Logan and surrounding area.

“Soon after Logan City’s inception, we opened the doors of our Slacks Creek campus in the heart of Logan’s most disadvantaged suburbs,” Ms Bartolo said.

“From our new Jimboomba centre, we will be better positioned to support people in Logan’s high-growth southwestern region, which has rapidly emerging needs for support.

“We will base a number of our specialist teams there. They’re providing services that people living in this region are seeking most.”

YFS Jimboomba has fast become the hub for services responding to people impacted by domestic violence and child safety concerns.

YFS offers appointments at Jimboomba for other services including financial counselling, legal advice and employment preparation for parents.

In addition to its two centres, YFS collaborates with other community organisations to provide outreach services across the Logan and surrounding area including Beaudesert.

Mr Power has been instrumental in securing Queensland Government funding for YFS, Ms Bartolo said.

“Without his support, we wouldn’t be in a position to offer R4Respect, a program led by young people in the Logan and surrounding area to prevent anti-social behaviour and violence,” she said.

“So it’s fitting that we recognise his important contributions at the opening ceremony.”
