अवलोकन

Women’s Advocates connect with people who have experienced violence and abuse from a partner, ex-partner or family member attending the Responsible Men program.

We walk alongside you as you navigate your pathway to safety. We can provide information and support to access specialist services including counselling, legal and family supports that increase safety and wellbeing.

Through a trauma-informed and person-centered approach, we will connect in a flexible, responsive and collaborative way that is respectful, culturally appropriate, non-judgmental and supports self-determination.

You do not need to contact this service. If your partner, ex-partner or family member is in the Responsible Men program, we will reach out to you and get your consent to be part of this program.

Support is available by phone and in person if needed.

What to expect

Our first engagement with you will be via phone where we will introduce ourselves and the program and explore your hopes and needs for safety and wellbeing.

With your consent, we can stay in touch throughout the program and beyond, depending on what feels right for you. We will be guided by you when you no longer want or need to be engaged with us.

We can talk over the phone or arrange to meet in person at a safe location.

Areas we support

Women’s Advocates can support you by phone, regardless of where you live.

The person attending the Responsible Men program must live within the program’s eligible service area.

How to access this service

Referrals are received from our YFS Responsible Men program.

If your partner or ex-partner is referred to the Responsible Men program, a Women’s Advocate will contact you to provide information about the program and with your consent will remain in contact with you during their time in the program.
