Domestic and family violence affects all people in all communities, including the Scenic Rim.
We are calling on individuals, clubs, businesses, services and agencies in our community to take an active role to prevent and end domestic and family violence.
Our community should look out for one another, be able to recognise domestic and family violence, encourage safe, open conversations to raise awareness and know where support is available.
Because if something doesn’t feel right, it usually isn’t.
Not in My Community is about driving lasting, grassroots-led change toward a safer community where people live free from violence and abuse. That’s why we’re encouraging all people and organisations to get involved.
By signing up to Not in My Community, you or your organisation will become part of a growing, local effort to strengthen understanding and awareness to prevent domestic and family violence in the Scenic Rim.
Not in My Community is a starting point for community change, creating space for conversations with your friends, family, peers and networks about drivers of domestic and family violence and whether current attitudes and approaches are safe and respectful.
Stay up-to-date with news and changes in the domestic and family violence space, and receive information and resources to support a shared commitment to a community grounded in safety, respect and accountability. Over time, there will be opportunities to expand your involvement, strengthen organisational approaches, and connect with other participants across the Scenic Rim.
Together, we will not be silent on domestic and family violence.
Our experienced workers support people who are impacted by domestic and family violence. We are committed to ensuring people who are experiencing violence are safe and well.
YFS is also committed to primary prevention, helping organisations and communities build respectful relationships and recognise harmful behaviours.
We also work with people who use domestic violence and coercive control in their relationships to help them recognise their behaviours and their impact and take responsibility to change their beliefs that drive their abusive behaviour.
