Integrated Youth and Family Housing

At YFS we know a safe and stable home is fundamental to a good life. It allows you to make and achieve goals, address challenges and build a positive family environment for children. In recognition of this, our Integrated Family and Youth Housing Service helps YFS clients find housing stability.

If you’re already connected with a YFS program and need help with housing, our Integrated Housing Specialists may be able to support you.

We work alongside you to understand your situation and connect you with options that suit your needs, while prioritising your choice, safety and wellbeing.

We help people across different YFS services, including:

• Step by Step, young parents program
• Assessment and Service Connect (ASC)
• Intensive Family Support (IFS)
• Functional Family Therapy – Child Welfare (FFT-CW)
• SHINE, domestic and family violence service
• Women’s Advocacy
• Youthlink
• Next Step Plus

Once you have found housing, we will step aside, so your primary worker can help you achieve your other goals. Where possible, we check in to see how you’re going and offer support to maintain your tenancy if needed.

We provide longer term case management support for IFS, Step by Step, Youthlink and Next Step Plus clients, and shorter-term specialist support for FFT-CW, ASC, SHINE and Women’s Advocacy.

This is a referral-only service for people already connected with a YFS program.

Integrated Housing Specialists are embedded within YFS programs. They work with youth, family and DFV practitioners to help with housing supports.

If you’re already working with YFS, speak with your worker about whether this support is suitable for you.

If you are not connected with a YFS service and need assistance, contact us to discuss the support options available.

This service is available to people already receiving support through selected YFS programs.

If you have a client who is homeless or at risk of homelessness and is connected with YFS, speak with their YFS worker to explore whether support from an Integrated Housing Specialist is suitable.
