Aotelega

The Community Youth Response and Diversion (CYRD) program helps keep young people aged 10 to 17 out of the youth justice system.

We walk alongside you providing culturally appropriate case management and outreach support focused on strengthening your connection and belonging.

Whether you need help with transport to appointments, accessing legal advice, finding work or education opportunities, securing safe accommodation, or building confidence to navigate services, we’re here to support you.

We take the time to listen and work at your pace, always without judgement.

Our Youth Coach can also support you to:

  • make healthy and positive choices
  • start thinking about the future
  • get life back on track
  • create a plan and set achievable goals to move forward
  • link you in with your community
  • explore and access other support services.

This program is co-designed and delivered with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS), ensuring it’s culturally safe, respectful and right for you and your family.

Support is available in person or by phone

What to expect

CYRD does after hours outreach in Logan on Thursday evenings (year-round) and Saturday evenings (school holidays only) from 3:30 to 9:30pm. During outreach, we can link you with support services, talk to police on your behalf or drive you home or to a safe place.

If we connect with you during outreach, we’ll provide you with all the information you need to stay connected to us and access ongoing support.

You can also enquire about CYRD case management support by dropping into the office, calling, or emailing.

Once we hear from you or you are referred to our program, we’ll contact you to see how we can best help. This might be through regular meetings with our Youth Coach, or other YFS services that can meet your needs.

We offer flexible meetings in line with your needs and those of your family. We review your progress to ensure you are on track and work together with you on your journey until you feel ready to move on.

“I wrote down all the stuff that I could probably achieve in the world. Then, I started working towards things and crossing them out. And I realised I could probably help out kids.
