Logan-based Financial Counsellor Fiona Hawkins, from YFS, will represent consumers on a new national committee to monitor debt collectors’ compliance with their Code of Practice.

YFS CEO Cath Bartolo congratulated Ms Hawkins on her appointment as the National Consumer Representative on the new Code Monitoring Committee for the Collectors and Debt Buyers Association.

Members of this association have agreed to a new Code of Practice. The Committee will meet regularly to investigate alleged breaches and monitor compliance.

Fiona Hawkins comes to the role with an extensive experience. She is a Certified Practicing Accountant and a highly qualified financial counsellor working in the community.

In support of consumers, Ms Hawkins’ new appointment will represent their views, ideas and concerns at all levels.

Ms Bartolo said the appointment recognised Ms Hawkins’ outstanding career and service to the community.

“On behalf of YFS, I want to congratulate Fiona and wish her all the best in her new role. I have no doubt she will be a strong advocate for consumers,” Ms Bartolo said.
